Since 19 August 2025, a new obligation has been imposed throughout the European Union: all heavy goods vehicles that drive internationally must be equipped with the Smart Tachograph version 2.

Since 19 August 2025 a new obligation applies throughout the European Union: all heavy goods vehicles that international driving must be equipped with the Smart Tachograph version 2 (G2V2). This has reached the last deadline in the phased introduction of this system.

The new tachograph will replace the previous version which has been mandatory in all newly registered heavy vehicles since August 2023. The Smart Tachograph 2 offers a range of enhanced features including:
