Brennerpas bans trucks on Saturdays

Vehicles weighing shall be subject to the following conditions: from now until 15 March an additional driving ban on the A12 (Inntal Autobahn), A13 (Brennerpas) and A14 (Rhindal/Walgau). This measure was introduced for maintenance work at the Luegbrücke on the Brenner Autobahn (A13).

This measure was introduced for maintenance work at the Luegbrücke on the Brenner Autobahn (A13).

The Brenner Autobahn is one of the main routes between Austria and Italy with an annual passage of about 2.5 million trucks and 14.3 million cars.

The ban is the latest restriction for trucks in Tyrol, in addition to existing measures such as night bans (between 22:00 and 05:00), Sunday driving bans and the Blockabfertigung on the A93 and A12, whereby trucks may pass only in limited numbers on certain days. Although German and Italian carriers, who make a lot of use of this route, have for years expressed their discontent with the Austrian restrictions, local entrepreneurs are now also showing themselves.

The driving ban is in force on all Saturdays of 11 January 2025 until 15 March, between 07.00 and 3 p.m..

In addition, the ban resumed on Saturday 12 April and applies to all Saturdays from 7 June to 27 September. Furthermore, 07.00 to 10 p.m. is prohibited on the following days: Thursday 17 April, Friday 18 April, Wednesday 28 May, Wednesday 18 June and Thursday 2 October. Trucks Between 5:00 and 7:00 a.m. still use the route.

However, with a length of 115 kilometers and a maximum speed of 60 kilometers per hour, this will be a race against the clock.
