Financial uncertainties and risks due to constantly mutating regulations

To make electric driving more attractive in the business world, the government has taken numerous measures. Both business and private electric drivers can count on Grants and schemes to create benefits for both companies as individuals. However, there have recently been mutations acted in the rules governing the subsidy for Electric vehicles.

However, there have recently been changes in the regulation of subsidies for electric vehicles.

On 31 August it was announced that the subsidy ceiling for Award would be increased from EUR 30 million to € 57.4 million. It was also expected that additional funding would be granted to construction to promote sustainability. The subsidy ceiling for the subsidy scheme Clean and Emission-free Construction Equipment (SSEB) would increase from EUR 36 million to EUR 42 million. However, recent reports have shown that these budgetary changes are reversed. Secretary of State Vivianne Heijnen reports in the Staatscourant that the increase in the Board budget from 30 million to 57.4 million euros has been "abusely published." In addition to AANZeT and SSEB, a decision has recently been made that has negative consequences for the commercial electric vans.

The grant for emission-free vans will be Stop after 2024. According to Secretary of State Vivianne Heijnen, the continuation of the Grant Scheme for Free Business Cars (SEBA) after 2025 "no longer realistic" and also unnecessary given the already expected strong increase in purchase costs of fossil vans in that year, which will make the difference. It is very important for entrepreneurs to be able to take well-considered decisions.

The government tries to push the entrepreneur towards sustainable purchases through schemes and grants. For example, in the future the electric driver would pay less truck toll per mile according to the government. The choice of investment could be made easy but as this article shows government's not their promises always clean after. It is wise to examine carefully prior to a decision which uncertainties there are with regard to the relevant regulations and to approach promises with a critical look.
